The books each share a lot of background about each of the 5 Love Languages as well as how to determine your loved one's love language. They are merely a source for ideas to help you execute them in real life. These posts are not meant to take the place of the books. If you have not read the book, find the one that applies to your life and read it. The Five Love Languages books by Gary Chapman are about a way to help you give and receive love. Specifically I'll be talking about The 5 Love Languages, and ideas to speak them with the whole family! Just FYI I'm adding affiliate links to this post. Today’s Daily News Story was written by EXTRA’s intern Carolyn McCusker, a senior at Amherst College.Today I am kicking off a series of posts that touch on something that has made a big difference in my life. Write down their preferred love language and brainstorm ten ways you can show them love using their love language. Have a loved one (friend, family member) take the love languages quiz, then compare their results with your own. Are you surprised to learn what your love language is? Looking at the colors on your paper, what sources of love do you have a lot of ideas for? What colors don’t show up as much?

  • While you’re writing different kinds of support you can receive, use one color for ways you need support at home, another color for ways you need support at school and a third color for ways you need support from friends.
  • For example, if you were brainstorming about “words of affirmation,” you might write, “telling me I did well on a test.”
  • Surrounding each finger, write ways you could receive that kind of love/support.

    Write each of the love languages on a finger, with your most compatible language being on your thumb and your least favored language on your pinky.
